Network Security Engineer

We have an immediate need for a Network Security Engineer.  This position is responsible for configuration and maintenance of the complex secure network system in support of dynamic LAN environment. Provide security engineering, analysis, analyze Enterprise application and email systems, LAN and WAN systems, including planning, designing, evaluating, and implementing counter measures.  The worksite is located in Washington, DC. 



  • Provide management with correlation analysis of logs produced by the various network security and network filtering system logs.
  • Administer Linux and open source systems.
  • Maintain the BIND DNS/DNSSEC systems.
  • Install, integrate, and manage outbound and inbound TCP/IP packet inspection systems.
  • Install, configure, and administer intrusion detection systems (IDS).
  • Install, configure, and manage firewall and packet filtering systems.
  • Provide immediate response to network security alerts from the CIRT or network monitoring systems.
  • Provide daily, weekly and monthly reports as required by management on breaches in security and overall network security posture.
  • Apply patches and remediations to assigned network security systems within the timeframe specified by the service level agreement.
  • Install, configure and administer two-factor authentication solutions (i.e., RSA SecurID, TACACS, & RADIUS)
  • Provide security enhancement recommendations to management.
  • Collaborate with teams to maintain and enhance LAN & WAN infrastructure.
  • Provide Tier3 support in troubleshooting of the network related issues and problems.
  • Support and coordinate troubleshooting.
  • Resolve and close tickets in accordance with NOC SLAs.
  • Ensure that the network and its components are patched with the latest software version, security updates, and hotfixes.
  • Support On-call rotation duty.
  • Conduct after hours maintenance and troubleshooting.



  • Demonstrated experience with Cisco ASA firewalls, RSA SecurID System and tokens and SSL/VPN in Cisco ASA
  • Demonstrated experience in maintaining and managing DNS
  • Demonstrated experience with Linux Administration
  • Demonstrated experience in a complex network environment
  • Demonstrated experience in design, implementation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Cisco switches and routers
  • Possess one or more of the following certifications: CCNA, CCNP, or Security+
  • Excellent customer service skills and understanding of ITIL
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder who has lived in the US for 3 years or longer
  • Possess an Active Public Trust Clearance is a plus



BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security or similar field. Relative experience in these fields and additional specialized certifications can also be considered in lieu of specified education requirement.
